We invite monetary as well as gently-used and new community / rescue supplies. Donors may donate via check, credit card, Paypal or through sponsorship opportunities as they arise.

We are a non-for-profit, 501(c)(3) charity organization that relies on fundraising, our store as well as public / private donations to provide aid to others. All funds are applied to open causes such as community drives, medical costs, purchasing critical needs items. Funds also funnel advocacy and education endeavors into areas in need of another layer of support.

We are an official 501(c)(3) charity organization and provide all donors with a tax donation receipt for their TAX-DEDUCTIBLE monetary (or in-kind goods) given toward our community mission.

We are a small, core team and rely heavily on the kind hearts of our volunteers to help us distribute help across the miles. We ask the public for help in picking up or dropping off community supplies at scheduled deliveries. Help us drive (small) animal rescue transports from the places we support toward licensed rescue partners. Participate in planned pop-up community events distributing supplies for people and pets. Help with tasks such as social media, community connections, advocacy programs and more. We invite Youth to Seniors to reach out and discuss spreading some hope. We are always seeking crafters who sew, carpenters that build and those with a gift for fundraising endeavors.

90% of our community work originates in either Illinois or North Carolina as our board members live in those areas.

We invite Public and Corporate donations to help us aid the communities we visit. Some we step into for just a moment while others evolve over years. The needs are many as we serve people AND pets. Please visit our CAUSES page to see exactly what donation items are needed as these are consistently changing to suit the community we meet. We offer scheduled pick-ups around Chicago, IL and Asheville, NC. Please call to discuss anything outside that area as we also work with truck drivers. We also offer drop off in limited areas, please connect to inquire where the closest one may be for you.

We believe external partnerships are critical to all community endeavors. We invite community service organizations such as Homeless Shelters, Law Enforcement Agencies, Mentally-Challenged Homes, Military / Veteran Organizations, Senior / Assisted Living Facilities, Animal Control Shelters / County Pounds and licensed Animal Rescue organizations to reach out for an initial conversation via our connect form or e-mail connect@commonground-crn.org. We have an application process so that we can better ascertain how to best align with one another.

We firmly believe engaging and involving our young is crucial to making sustainable community connections. We offer kids from Grades 3 and up an opportunity to come out and volunteer as events come up. All kids ages 16 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We have community service opportunities as well for those seeking a chance to earn hours or meet other community-minded people.

Board Members reside in Illinois and North Carolina with split volunteer teams. We do not have a brick and mortar facility but rely on our ability to rent large-scale vehicles to transport goods from our storage units in Elgin, IL and Asheville, NC toward areas needing a little piece of hope. We have an array of volunteers and grassroot partners in multiple states that help support our core C.A.R.E. pillar programs outside of IL and NC.
